PayPal’s wrench in our works
So last week PayPal emailed me to let me know that I was in violation of their acceptable use policy. The fiction on Rockfic.com (all of it text, mind you—a bunch of stories basically by women for women, some of which, yes, involve sex) violates their policy against “sexually oriented” content sold via web subscription. As a result, we can no longer use PayPal to collect our massive $2/year subscription fees. We can’t use CCBill or 2checkout for similar reasons. And we don’t have enough money coming in to cover the fees involved with having our own merchant account—I mean, come on, we sell $2 subscriptions, and we do that just so we can cover the cost a reliable server.
We are therefore, for the time being, involuntary luddites, forced to ask people who wish to access the fiction on our site to send us their $2 by snail mail.
